Federal Government Allocates Over $132 Million to Alberta via the Canada Community-Building Fund

The federal government has allocated more than $132 million to Alberta under the Canada Community-Building Fund (CCBF) for the initial payment of the 2024-2025 fiscal year. This funding will assist communities across the province in advancing their local infrastructure projects.

This payment marks the first of two installments for Alberta during this fiscal year, with the second payment anticipated before the fiscal year concludes.

This is also the first transfer under the newly renewed CCBF agreement with Alberta, which spans from 2024 to 2034. Under this agreement, Alberta is set to receive over $1.39 billion over the next five years, including $265 million for the current fiscal year.

The CCBF offers communities reliable and flexible funding for a range of projects, including drinking water, wastewater, public transit, community energy systems, and infrastructure needed for future housing developments.
